CD mixes a new start

OK so In The spring of 2003 I found myself packing up all my albums tapes and CDs into boxes.Nancy told me after we got settles in the new house I would get a computer and make CD mixes because no one listens to tapes anymore.
I just become computer literate.I knew how to send and receive email but that was the extent of it.Advancing at such a fast pace scared the crap out of me. I did not want to become a slave to technology like many folks I knew already were.
Soon after Moving in our new house I started back making mix tapes when one night the record side of the dual cassette player broke.I saw some piece go flying as I ejected a tape.I was done, finished! No more mixtapes.
my heart sank.
a few weeks later was my birthday.Molly made me a CD mix.someone alse gave me a pack of CDrs.I thanks them but must have had a baffled look on my face like ok CDrs but I don't have a computer.my sister then informed me that one night we will get on they're computer and order me a computer. A few days later we did.By Thankgiving I had my own computer and was learning about all kinds of things. There was a music program called Music Match.it was cool. I loaded most all the music I had on it.
a Year Later I replaced music match with iTunes.
Slowly but surely this new technology which I was so scared of wasn't as hard to learn as I thought. Technology was becoming my friend.
Making CD mixes was easy.Point, click, drag and save!
creating cover art was fun too!I'm back baby!
After we moved I discovered my turntable missing.Replacing all my albums would take years. After replacing many albums with CDs I either gave my records to folks who wanted them or got store credit at a local novelty store and bought more CDs.
in the spring of 2007 I bought my own DJ gear.and a month after buying it I was DJing a 40th birthday Party of a friend.
The mix queen was back.I still have a many of the cassette mixes which I listen to in the car from time to time or on my downstairs stereo.
A many years now I have been a member of a mixtape group called the international mixtape project. The large group of folks who like me love making a sharing CD mixes.

www.internationalmixtapeproject.com

I discovered then one night search the web wondering if there were any group dedicated to folks like me to love making mixes.Heck theres a whole bunch of us world wide!Yes world wide!
There was another group the zenrunning order which only lasted a few years but I made many online friends during its short stay. I continue mixing with these friends.
We compare notes on what inspires a mix and the creative process. Many have gone to mixcloud route but I would rather sending by mail or giving someone in person. Its more fun and personal.
Sending and receiving that 6x9 envelope still is thrilling to me.
Seeing someones reaction when I give them a mix is great too.
their eyes widen " oo another Trish mix,Yay!"
once in a while someone will ask me for a custom mix.I recently made one for my nephew for his birthday!

OK now that you know my story Id love to read YOU story of a mixtape.
