This year I got a spooktacular mix from fellow mixmaker and artist Justine
Halloween is her favorite time of year and she put together a very cool mix

  I didn't make a halloween mix this year but justine inspires me! Perhaps next year!

After Sunset

I was looking for my Christmas CDs and starting to get ready for this years Christmas mix when I found this.
 Its a collection of jazz,Lounge and ambient music.
I made it in or around 2010.
Many of the selections were inspired my fellow mixmakers including Al Telstar and Uncle Orca (they're online names at the time!
sadly they are the few that I'm still in touch with but Uncle Orca and I still ratain out online friendship and swap mixes through the mail!

where to get music on a tight budget

Sometimes I have the urge to shop for new music  but cant spend the kind of money I want to.
The Library of a great way to find new music without spending a dime!
Many public braries have a CD section.
If you have heard of a singer or group the library is a great way to checkout new music.
Before checking out the CD inspect it for scratches. Not everyone takes good cares of CDs that are not theirs!
 My itunes has many library tracks in it. I have even made mixes dedicated to music I discovered from the library!
IMPORTANT NOTE Return your CDs on time are your will pay for it and fines suck!

Eclectic Elements 2016

I stepped back in time a bit foe this mix and went back to ny Rock N Roll roots but yeah this is a splash of jazz and African beats!
Despite what many say getting a CD mix or mixtape still is cool!
I still give mixes to friends and coworkers and they STILL dig em! some family members also like em!
My mixmaking friend Tex Hobart and I have resume trading mixes recently! My friend Larry aka Uncle Orca are die hard fans too! My friend Curt send me one when time permits!

another try at the mix trade in January

I have another youtube friend interested in joining the mix trade. If there more than 10 people I'll give it a try! I miss not having it. The excitement of creating new friendships is cool. Turning someone onto music you like and possibly reintroducing them to a song they have not heard in years is thrilling.
Many of my fellow mixmakers have introduced me to cool music. My music education is furthered through other peoples mixes.
Al Telstar and Robert Song got me curious about world music. The Music of Africa and Ireland are my faves followed closely my Cuban and india.
 Larry aka uncle Orca and Al Telstar and two mixmakers I've known the longest.
Tex Hobert is a bluegrass and roots music fan and every now and then I enjoy that Sunday morning music as I call it.
I used to listen to a bluegrass program every Sunday on a local college station.

Friday I arrived home from world and this was awaiting me. A mix from my friend Justine!

cd mixes: folks still make em!

the other day when I went to Walgreens to get some CDes the man behind the counter ask me what I put on then.
I told him I make cd mixes for family and friends.
Oh yeah? My wife and I do too. We put our fave songs on a cd and take them on trips.
 I would have gotten deeper in conversation if not for a coworker of his interrupting.
Its cool to meet new folks who still have a love for making mixes.

cool Grooves update and chatter

Hello fello mixmakers
I am happy to report we have 16 folks participating in the second attend at the mixtrade. Folks still make to mail mixes through the mail and make new friends despite the slight rise is postal rates.
 Some of the stuff you here on the radio today is bland and swapping mix CDs is like OK you want to hear cool music?
 Yes folks there is better music than Kanye West, Justin Bieber and Gangster rappers! We mix CD makers will give you GOOD music to blast out your car windows and stereos at your next party!

trying to revive to mix trade

I just joined another mixtrade group on yahoo. and trying to get a small group of my own going too! The Yahoo group has 37 members my group has 6.
not enough to get it started but I do have a publication of cool grooves(a newsletter dedicated to mixmaking)ready to be copied.
 will 2015 be the revival of the CD mix?

OK I  have touched on this before but heres a brief reminder

   Back in or abound 2007 or 2009 I join a group called the international mixtape project (IMP)
each month I get an email with a fellow mixmakers name and address I make them a mix and mail it off. Years ago I wondered if I was the only one still making CD mixes in the advent of the MP3.
  Was I some music geek obsessed with making mixes and wasting my time or a music fan who love this artform of turning folks on to cool music? Were there others like me?
My answer came when I joined IMP!
Yes there are others alike me..all around the world!Yes all around the world.
for about 3 years I had a small group of my own too but folks started dropping out left and right so I had to close up shop sort of speak but Im still going strong in IMP.
I have made a few friends and been turned onto lots of cool music.
I have sent mixes to the UK,Germany and Canada!
Membership to join is only $10.00 a year!

Mid Winter Mix

As old man winter is dumping show and another round of frigid temps on us the opportunity to come up with a new mix springs up.
 I should have called this the box of chocolate mix because I was eating chocolate while trying to came up with a title and although the title is nothing special I hope the music is!

this is not about set fires except for you feet.in other words this track will havr you dancing so music it ( the Dancing) will set the dancefloor a blaze!

as usual I got an iTunes gift card for Christmas.Many of these tracks were purchased with that card!

a mix from 2005

Jazzy Funky Snazzy is a mix I made in or around 2005! The program I was using was musicmatch that came with the computer. If memoryserves me right they  got bought by yahoo and one day I tried to burn a playlist but it said I wasn't licenced to do so. In my frustrastion I deleted music match and uploaded the iTunes program that came with my ipod.Although I enjoyed the fancy cover art printing options music mat had I don't regret switching to iTunes. Screw you musicmatch!
